Ep. 22: Fight Mommy Anger: Give Consistent, Prompt Discipline

Posted on April 5, 2017 by Jess Connell

Many moms feel overpowered by anger, and find it difficult to be consistent in discipline.

“If you do that ONE more time…”

“Do you want to get in trouble?”

“I can’t take it anymore!”

Listen as Jess talks with Wendy about:

  • giving consistent discipline
  • practical ways to fight mommy anger
  • how to discern whether a parenting resource is biblical

This episode’s Quick Mom Verse:

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…” ~2 Corinthians 10:5

Listen to the first 2 episodes of this conversation:

  • Ep. 20: Discipline Your Kids – For Their Good!
  • Ep 21: Fight Fears & Cultural Lies About Discipline

Tips for Discerning if Parenting materials are Biblical:

  1. Start with trusted ministries like DesiringGod.org, The Gospel Coalition, John MacArthur
  2. Flip through the book to evaluate: is it regularly using Scripture?
  3. Go deeper: is it using Scripture *IN CONTEXT*? Is it upholding Scripture or trying to redefine/pick it apart?

Mentioned in this episode:

  • Elisabeth Krueger (author of Raising Godly Tomatoes)- “My Change To Consistency”
  • James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
