I love how real this is. Both the things you’re talking about (sharing your own struggle yesterday), and the chaos of real life. Thanks for this helpful reminder to measure fruit…not just be swayed by emotions.

I get a lot of this heavy feelings thing since my baby just turned 2 months. (She was born on Dec. 30th so she got “grandfathered in” I guess, too. :)) Sometimes the post partum feelings are so heavy. Hormones, lack of sleep, and we just moved a month ago too, away from our family. I often feel discouraged and weary and just yesterday I was thinking as I swept the floor. I was feeling bad about how I just have been not very happy with my kids and how I don’t want to be that way and feeling so discouraged again. I decided that I don’t have to sit in that pit and ruminate over and over how I feel like I’m just failing and the days pass so fast and before I know it, I’ve not got to all I intended and often not been the mom I want to be. A friend’s comments a while back came to me how she said that she trusts that God will work through her in her kids lives, no matter how imperfect she is. I realized that Satan was flashing these thoughts and feelings before me like a neon sign, but that I didn’t have to listen to them. Just keep doing the next thing and trying again and trust that God is bigger and can still work in my life and my kids lives, despite my many failings. In the moment, remembering this was huge and i felt a weight lift off. Anyways…this is getting longer than I meant. I love your boys in the video and that you did this video in the midst of them. You’re an inspiration and encouragement to me. :)

      YES, to this:

“Sometimes the post partum feelings are so heavy… I often feel discouraged and weary ”

And I love the truth you shared– this encourages me regularly too– “she trusts that God will work through her in her kids lives, no matter how imperfect she is.” Hebrews 12 talks about earthly parents “discipline as seems best to them” and it’s the same principle. We received what we received…. imperfect parenting… and our kids receive the same… and yet He is active and at work in all of our lives. :) So thankful for that!
